Just some taxi advice for all

Hi everyone

I just want to put a warning up about a taxi driver I had tonight who was incredibly dodgey.

I live in Newtown and went to my work Christmas party in Brighton-Le-Sands tonight and caught a cab there at about 7:30pm.

It was $19.30 (through legion cabs).

The party finished at about midnight and so we attempted to catch a cab on the main street at about 12:15am.

A legions combined cab pulled up but refused to unlock his doors until we told him our destiation. Once we told him it was Newtown he happily let us in.

I questioned him when I got in the cab asking if he was checking for a good fare but he ignored me and wouldn't answer my question.

I noticed the meter was running faster than usual and the cab cost us $35.40 which is more than $15 on our fare on the way. I handed him a $50 and he asked if I had any other change. I proceeded to give him an extra $5.40 in change and he tried to give me $15. I told him that the change would be $20 and he argued with me that it should only be $15. He must have thought I was drunk or something because he continued to argue with me saying that I gave him $55.40 and so the change was $15. Eventually when he realised he was caught out he gave me
the change of $20.

While I don't mind paying a bit more if there is bad traffic etc there was no traffic on the road and there is no excuse for how he acted.

This is just a general warning to all our there to avoid the Taxis Combinded driver number plate T-3558.

I have made a separate complaint to Taxis Combined directly for this.

Hahaha

I urgently need to find a home for a 4 year old male cat.

He's desexed and is quite a lovely smoochy cat however he only has 3 legs! This doesn't stop him from playing or using the kitty litter.

We adopted him from freecycle however he does not get along with our other male cat and they have decided the couch is both of their property and keep taking turns peeing on it.

He needs a home where he is the only male cat.

Can anyone help?

If I can't find a home for him in the next week I'm going to have to take him to the cat protection society unfortunately.

I have photos I can email if needed.

My birthday party 2007

Ok well my birthday was.............. interesting this year.

First of all I would like to say my friends are awesome and I love you all very much. Don't know what I would do without you!

The night started off with everyone coming over to our place. Gaz is full of awesome because not only did he organise the keg he also bought over a whole fuckload of firewood for us to use along with other things.

There were a few dramas to start as the pub forgot to give us the tap for the keg so Gaz had to go back again and get the tap. When he returned it would not work and after a call to the pub we found out they had given us the wrong tap but couldn't provide the right tap because it was being used.

Luckily Gaz has MacGyver skills and made the tap work with the help of a pen lid.

In the meantime I did all the girls make up and let me just say they all looked fabulous!

By then it was about time to head off to Combichrist so off we went.

It was great to go out with a big group of us again, we haven't done it in so long!

The concert itself was fairly average because of the obvious problems with the laptop and missing 1/2 hour worth of songs. By the time the music started up again I wasn't really in the mood so spent my time chatting to [info]glittalogik at the merch table.

After the concert we headed back to our place for some more drinks and general partying. A huge thank you to [info]virul3nt for lending me $20 as Gaz and I got left in the city when everyone went back to our place and neither of us had any money on us.

Not long after I got a call asking if the band could come back to our place because no after party had been organised.

While I would like to point out I have a rule of not letting people I don't know come to my house for parties, I said ok if it was just a small group (i.e. the band and the promoters/djs). But when everyone turned up there were a whole heap of posers/groupies etc.

Now I did try my very hardest to be nice and welcoming etc but however it's very hard to do when people do not have any respect for my house and therefore me.

Anyone who knows me at all knows I do not give a shit about the scene or if you're in a band or whatever (which I would like to point out I was told on numerous occasions). That does not mean that me or my friends will give you free/discounted drugs or booze which we bought for OURSELVES for MY BIRTHDAY PARTY! I do not appriciate being made uncomfortable in my own home.

Besides the fact the keg cost us $230 + the drugs and was never meant for a huge party, just a few friends.

In any case there were a few cool people we met like Luke, and a few members of the band.. Andy, and Shaun were cool from the little I spoke to them. And John was awesome.

But after a while I thought it was about time the other drummer + the roadie left and at that point so did Joseph and Andy.

On the way out the roadie picked up a big fucking knife from our kitchen and started waving it around which only proved my point more.

Much love to [info]fest_of_claw & [info]illdrinn for acting as bouncers and kicking people out. I was much past the point of doing it myself I think. I was feeling a wee bit fragile.

After they left I was much more relaxed.

I would like to say thank you to those people who came to our house and actually thanked us for our hospitality, I think that most of the attitude was because most of the band + tag-alongs must have thought that it actually was the after party and not my birthday party.

The day was rounded up with [info]fest_of_claw and [info]letthembleed, [info]decker, [info]illdrinn, Gaz and I in the loungeroom (it was too cold to stay outside) in true trashbag fashion.

Today Sam and I took off work so we could clean up the house which has been relitivly pain free.
The keg was an awesome idea as it was so easy to clean up the cups rather than bottles etc so thanks to Gaz and [info]fest_of_claw for convincing me that it was such a good idea.

So to finish this huge entry (probably the longest I have made in quite some time) I would like to say this:
1. My friends fucking rock! Thank you for coming and generally just being so awesome!
2. I am going back to my rule of not letting strangers into my house. After Saturday it proved YET AGAIN why I had this rule to begin with
3. If you are reading this and you ever bring attitude into my house you must have severly missed the fact that my friends and I do not care who you are, it does not give you reason to be a dickhead to me or my friends or insult my hospitality.

All in all my birthday was good besides a few little hickups.

Well, I'm having a fantastic start to the new year!

WE JUST FOUND OUR CAT DOZEY!

He has been missing since the 17th December and today I printed out 200 flyers.

We were putting them up in the streets next to ours and then we heard this howling. IT WAS DOZEY! He was stuck in between 2 houses. We were able to free him and bring him home.

He is VERY skinny, however he is very lucky as it has been raining so he has had water to drink.

Now he is in my lap purring his guts out.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

We fostered a dog on Saturday while we wait to find him a new home. He is from Sydney dogs home.

His name is Bryan and he is a Kelpie cross Labrador. Very cute!
Hopefully we will be able to find a new home for him soon.
If anyone knows someone that wants him let me know.
He is 6 months old, desexed and is $245.
This covers his desexing costs (desexing in dogs costs usually at least $150!), he's had all his vaccinations, is heartworm tested, wormed, microchipped and lifetime registered.
He is a very timid dog but loves attention. He has a white patch on his chest and white socks on his back feet.
He is very friendly with other dogs and is fine with cats (he licks my cats head, no biting or chasing at all)

Rail officials have axed 88 Sydney trains - beginning today and until further notice - as they take desperate measures to cope with the shortage of train drivers.

Commuters had been warned yesterday of 10 cancelled peak-hour services, but by the end of the day a further 76 trains were withdrawn, station staff announcing the cuts one by one.

Just after 5.30pm, the extent of the crisis became clear. CityRail announced that 88 trains, including 23 peak-hour services, would have to be wiped off daily timetables, with no indication of when they might return. The cuts were needed to protect morning and evening peak-hour services.

And more is to come. CityRail plans to announce by mid-week a list of weekend services to be axed so drivers can be reassigned to weekday peak hours.

The Premier, Bob Carr, weighed into the fiasco, calling for faster recruitment of drivers to stem the growing shortage - now estimated at 60 full-time drivers.

Less than two years ago, CityRail wanted to introduce a new timetable but was forced to scrap it because it did not have enough drivers.

Yesterday's cuts delayed commuters for up to an hour and passengers had to queue to cram into trains. Many learnt of cancellations at the last minute.

But even as those cuts were sinking in, the others were being drawn up, to be released on the CityRail website. It said: "Effective Monday, 9 February 2004 until further notice."

Of the 88 trains cut, Bankstown line lost seven, Inner West seven, City Circle nine, East Hills 15, Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra 19, North Shore nine, Northern five, South nine, and Western eight.

The driver shortage has been worsened by tougher medical tests since the report into the Waterfall train disaster. The tests have upset some drivers, who are refusing to do overtime.

Mr Carr said at a media conference with the Transport Services Minister, Michael Costa, that he would protect peak-hour services from the cuts. "Safety has to be the Government's first priority - that was the clear message from Justice McInerney's report into Waterfall. The report recognises that tough decisions will have to be made and this may result in disruption to passenger services.

"What we are doing is protecting peak-hour capacity - shortages will be reflected in off-peak and on weekends."

Mr Carr said he would speed up recruitment of drivers, with 250 new trainees to be brought on this year. Another 105 drivers were due to be ready for duty by December, while a new timetable to be introduced by July 1 would give passengers a "more reliable and realistic train service".

From April, 24 recruits will be brought in each month, doubling the dozen hired monthly late last year for the 26-month training course, said a RailCorp spokesman.

That will be two years after the former transport minister Carl Scully was forced into an embarrassing backdown over the Government's attempt to implement a new CityRail timetable, when he was told just a few weeks before it was scheduled to begin that it would be short 60 drivers.

Mr Carr said he refused to believe that unions were not supporting moves by some drivers to refuse overtime.

I've deleted most of the people off my friends list. It's nothing personal but I'm cleaning it out, as well as my icq list.

I kept the people on my friends list that I talk to regularly etc. There were so many people that I only see at clubs etc.

My journal will be strictly friends only from now on although I doubt I will even update often.
